Mission Health and Blessing Hospital Win Rothman Index Awards for Early Warning Systems

PeraHealth has announced the 2019 Rothman Index Award winners, bestowing the honors on hospitals and individuals who have used the Rothman Index to improve clinical outcomes, implement innovative technology applications, and author peer-reviewed publications. PeraHealth presented the awards as a Day 1 finale for the TRENDS 2019 Rothman Index Customer Conference in Baltimore on September 26.

The Rothman Index for Early Warning Systems Award is presented for achieving excellence and superior outcomes in the use of the Rothman Index for Early Warning Systems.

Mission Health
has implemented system-wide “Right Patient Right Bed” patient surveillance protocols based on the Rothman Index. The system has excelled as a regional referral center, using the Rothman Index to place patients quickly. Mission uses the Rothman Index proactively to ensure its patients in outlying hospitals receive appropriate care as close to home as possible and reduce medically unnecessary transfers to the main hospital.

Blessing Hospital uses the Rothman Index to help decrease mortality and sustain those reductions. The hospital has done extensive clinical education, using the Rothman Index to institute earlier warnings to provide the best care possible. Blessing has implemented proactive rounding using the ICU charge nurse and global surveillance. The team also uses the Rothman Index in the command center and notifies staff nurses when their patients enter warnings.
