Predictive use of nursing assessments leads to lower mortality and readmissions
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 11, 2018) – PeraHealth, a provider of predictive, real-time clinical surveillance solutions, will demonstrate its research-based technology and solutions at the 2018 American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) Annual Meeting, themed “Inspiring Leaders,” in Indianapolis from April 12-15.
PeraHealth’s solutions, including PeraTrend, PeraAnalytics, and PeraWatch, are powered by the Rothman Index (RI), a comprehensive measure of patient condition for healthcare providers, using hospitals’ existing EHRs and hundreds of real-time data points to quantify and visualize patient deterioration, risk, and improvement. While other solutions depend on vital signs, the peer-reviewed RI model uses a range of physiological measures – including labs, vital signs and nursing assessments – and produces a continuous measure of patient condition, across diseases, conditions and care settings, trended over time.
The broad-based inclusion of nursing assessments is unique to the Rothman Index, and it is the basis of several patents held by PeraHealth. Long before problems manifest as vital sign derangement, nursing assessments pick up more subtle clues. Every body-system assessment contains predictive power to help clinicians identify patients at elevated risk of an adverse outcome.
“Our partner health systems and their nurses have been using the Rothman Index and powerful insights from nursing assessments to drive reductions in care variation,” says Carolyn Scott, RN, M.Ed., MHA, PeraHealth’s Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. “I look forward to seeing my fellow nurse leaders at AONE to share successful strategies for enhancing the delivery of patient-centered value-based care, including mortality reduction, earlier identification of sepsis, mitigating codes and safety events, as well as enhancing the care management process.”
PeraHealth invites attendees to stop by booth #1231 or reserve a meeting slot ahead of time to learn more about the impact PeraHealth solutions are making on healthcare organizations and to play the virtual patient predictive analytics game, “Which Patient?”.
About PeraHealth
PeraHealth is a software company that uses the Rothman Index to transform the clinical and financial efficiency of healthcare. The Rothman Index is the first algorithm that derives one simple score from the vast amount of data in the electronic medical record to create a picture of any patient’s condition over time – any age, any disease, any care setting. It is the only algorithm proven to reduce mortality in practice. Other results include reducing length of stay and readmissions. Our customers are leading hospitals and clinicians who need to identify patients at risk of rapid decline, make decisions about transfer and discharge, predict the risk of severe infection, and improve the overall efficiency and quality of care.
