Medical informatics community values insights around proactive patient surveillance and enhanced COVID-19 tools
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 1, 2021) – PeraHealth Co-founder and Chief Science Officer, Michael Rothman, PhD, Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) will be speaking and presenting at this year’s live Annual Symposium in San Diego.
Dr. Rothman’s oral presentation titled, “Beyond Absolute Acuity: Changes in Relative Acuity Direct Proactive Rapid Response Teams toward Meaningful Interventions” will take place on Monday, November 1st, from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM PDT, during session S41 (“EHR Insights”)… numerically showing what clinicians know, change drives intervention. In scientific Poster Session 2, November 2nd, from 5:00-6:30PM PDT, Michael will be available to discuss our work, “A Mobile App to Stratify Deterioration Risk at Admission for COVID-19 Patients Using the Rothman Index”, describing a joint project with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority BARDA), part of HHS..
The underlying clinical solution to each of the AMIA presentations is PeraHealth’s, Rothman Index, an FDA– cleared patient surveillance platform that synthesizes large amounts of real-time EMR data to generate a powerful view, showing the trajectory of each patient’s condition and providing clinicians with actionable insights to enhance patient care. PeraHealth’s solutions captures important, but subtle changes in patient condition hours or days earlier than existing vitals-based warning systems. The platform not only supports early warning but also helps with patient placement, including transfer decisions around placing patients at the appropriate level of care and discharge readiness.
As a regular attendee of the yearly symposium and recognized contributor to the AMIA community, Dr. Rothman is excited to re-engage in a live setting, always learning from his peers and fellow AMIA “Fellows”. “The AMIA community is tight knit group of innovators within healthcare,” said Dr. Rothman. “I am honored to, once again, present and speak at the AMIA conference about PeraHealth’s life changing patient surveillance solutions that have had a positive impact on patients and clinicians across the country. The current care environment, including COVID surges, presents many challenges and I look forward to sharing thoughts about proactive patient intervention and COVID-19 risk stratification”.
